Protest at Traralgon against Nuclear Power

Yesterday, Voices of the Valley was one of the community groups to speak at the Parliamentary Select Committee on Nuclear Energy. One of the issues that came up several times was whether there would be a social licence for nuclear energy in Gippsland.

Darren Chester, committee member and Member for Gippsland, questioned whether community groups who appeared at the hearing had sufficient members to speak with confidence about our opposition to nuclear energy.

Darren Chester said most of the people who speak to his office support the establishment of nuclear energy.

Please, if you live in the Gippsland Electorate, phone his office,  email him,  write a letter, or call into the office in person, to tell him you are opposed to nuclear energy and concerned that he will support the party line rather than his electorate.
